KALASAG Film/Video Storytelling Workshop’s Final Project
The Kalasag Workshop series aimed to equip young people in communities most affected by the extrajudicial killings to tell their stories. For five days, kids aged 12-19 from Brgy. Bagong Silangan participated in a crash-course in filmmaking.
For their final project, four teams came up with four different short films in different genres (drama, action, comedy) – where characters take on different journeys and eventually meet in the end to make one film.
This was the first movie-making experience for most of our film workshop participants. But by passing on these tools in basic filmmaking, we hope these kids would continue to develop their voices and tell more stories in the future.
Their film premiered last Sunday in their own community during the Kalasag Solidarity Night.
